About the SCES Library
The library is open from 7:05-2:15 each day. Students are expected to follow library rules and procedures when visiting the library, including showing respect to others and library materials. Class times will generally follow a format of 15-20 minutes of lesson time, followed by 20 minutes of checkout time and reader's advisory. The last ten minutes of class is reserved for entire class independent reading time. Virtual choices with varying curriculum related themes will be offered during library visitations; students will utilize this option as they wait to checkout. Independent reading time is ALWAYS an option for ALL students during their library visit - I love seeing students get lost in a book!

About Mrs. Rickmon
I live in York, SC with my husband and three children, ages 18, 16, and 13. In my spare time I enjoy reading, running, swimming, hiking, kayaking...pretty much anything outdoors! I have a degree in English from Roanoke College and received a Masters of Library Science from the University of South Carolina. My love of student interaction and making a connection with each child is one reason why I chose to go into teaching and become a school librarian. Reading as a lifelong habit is a love I want to promote, encourage, and share with the students and staff at Sugar Creek Elementary. Fanning the flame of a child's curiosity, fostering a love of reading, and helping to create lifelong learners is what I strive for each day!
We have two lab mixes named Wishbone and Maximus. Maximus is named after Flynn Rider's horse in Tangled and even likes to "talk" to us sometimes. We also have 1 guinea pig, MJ, plus a fish tank! Our house is busy!
